NEW TIMES "Living Rhythms" Beginning Drum Lessons
Learn the art of drumming with this informal class, led by local

June Education Classes and Workshops: "Bring Your
Bongo!" Tribal Drum Workshop Enjoy an evening workshop dedicated to
the primal rhythm in you! Bring your own bongo, native or
stand-alone drum, or reserve one of the Buddy Holly Center’s for

The Art and Culture of Traditional Henna Explore the
beautiful form of henna body adornment with Instructor Mary Walker,
and learn about the fascinating history of henna and mehndi design.
Learn about different symbols and their meanings, traditional uses
for henna, and the basics of henna preparation and application.
During the workshop, enjoy discourse on ancient and modern India,
where mehndi originated as a ceremonial art form. Participants can
choose to adorn themselves with mehndi henna designs, or design
their own henna body decorations, and will leave the workshop with a
recipe to make henna at home. Date: Saturday, June 10th Time: 1 * 3

Making the Band Summer Camp This isn’t your ordinary
band camp! Making the Band is an opportunity for aspiring musicians
to spend one week learning about the music business, playing their
instrument with other students, and creating a band. All students
will perform at the Buddy Holly Center on the last day of class.
Children age 11- 17 that currently play an instrument and/ or sing,
are invited to enroll in this ensemble music class. Students will
spend one week working with a professional musician to create their
own band. Basic instrument or vocal experience a must! Dates: Monday
- Friday, June 26- 30Time: 8:00am - Noon Performance: Friday June
30th, 5:30pm in the Meadows Courtyard Cost: $75 Ages: 11-17
First Friday Art Trail: On the first Friday of June,
the Buddy Holly Center is excited to participate in Lubbock’s First
Friday Art Trail, a night that gives the community an opportunity to
enjoy fine art, entertainment and refreshments at local art
galleries.

Summer showcase: Buddy Holly Center - Summer
Showcase 2006 The Buddy Holly Center is gearing up for another hot
summer of music and fun with the annual concert series Summer
Showcase 2006. Performances are every Thursday evening from 5:30 -
7:30 pm in the Meadows Courtyard, from May 11 through September 7,
2006. The Summer Showcase experience is an entertaining and
innovative environment, where patrons can enjoy original and unique
Texas made music. Summer Showcase 2006 is free to the public, and
the Buddy Holly Center provides a cash bar and food for sale by
